Concepts
- rustic elegance
- pair natural and rough materials with highly refined materials
- locate house at edge of vineyard and extend 8-foot vine spacing into the house by spacing structure 8-foot on center
- bridge to views of surrounding vineyard
Features
- natural cooling (air intakes at the lower level take advantage of cool northern breezes from an adjacent reservoir, cool air is then routed through in-floor registers and further pulled by ceiling fans and operable skylights at the upper level)
- salvaged heavy timber frame
- large stone masses used to organize the space
