Daniel Lajoie

Daniel graduated from Montana State University in 1985 and has worked in Montana, California, Hawaii and Oregon.  With more than 21 years of experience in all project phases and most project types, he brings a strong conceptual design background and project leadership to any project with which he’s involved in.  Before starting Departure, Daniel spent more than seven years as design director with The Wasserberger Design Group in Portland, Oregon.  Previous experience included his mentorship under Bob Davis in San Diego at Carrier Johnson Architects (formerly The BSHA Design Group) as a lead designer, where design process was emphasized. In addition, for the past four years, Daniel also functions as a Planning Commissioner for the City of Oregon City.

Daniel has created numerous award-winning projects in several building types.  Through the years, he has experienced the process of creating great architecture and has in turn created his own philosophical basis and principles based on those experiences.  Creating the firm Departure is the culmination of those experiences.
